Cornelia Dell’Oro has graduated in choral music and choir conducting from the Conservatoire G. Verdi in Como. She studied with the guidance of M. Turner and she specialized in the Renaissance and Baroque pieces execution with C. Ansermet. She collaborated with “Concerto ensemble” conducted by R. Gini. Since she has attended several courses on various aspects of Gregorian, pop a cappella (with S. Carrington), gospels and contemporary music held by N. Brown, S. Korn and G. Graden.
She contributes to “La Cartellina”, magazine about choral music and didactics. She also carries out courses on pedagogical-musical context.
The Choir S. Pietro al Monte in Civate gets his name from the beautiful namesake Church, an ancient Benedictine monastic complex in Romanesque style sets on a ridge up Monte Cornizzolo. The repertoire of the choir ranges from Renaissance to Romantic and contemporary music, but it also includes both sacred and profane pieces accompanied by the organ.
Important performances of the choir are the execution of The Messiah by Handel, the collaborations with the Harmonia Gentium Association during Mozart celebrations, the recording of Misa Criolla by A. Ramirez, the execution of Matthaeus Passion by J.Bach, “Il Natale del Redentore” Oratorio by L.Perosi and finally the Gloria composed by F. Poulec.
The youth choir S. Pietro al Monte is composed by singers between 16 and 26 years old. Its repertoire includes both sacred and profane, antique and modern pieces. The choir especially performs spirituals and gospels, African, ethnic, vocal, pop and jazz music.
It took part in The Meeting of the Youth Choirs in Riccione (2003), in the Festival of Youth Choirs in Vittorio Veneto (2004), in the competition of Quartiano-gospel session. In 2007 it performed the opening of “The house that cried” by David Jackson, for choir, orchestra and sound beam machine. In 2008 it proposed the “Magnificat Groovy” by C. Schonherr for solo, choir and orchestra. In 2009 it achieved the First price cum laude in the European Youth Choir festival G. Zeglioli in Lecco. The director of the choir since its foundation is Cornelia Dell’Oro.
Ramona Acquistapace graduated from the Conservatoire G. Verdi in Como and she studied both piano and choral sing, specialising in classical, pop, antique and swing music.
She is a member of the vocal group “Chorus Band” and she teaches music at “Musicarte School” in Colico.
The Children’s Choir is about 25 children from 6 to 16 years old. The Choir intends, through its concert activity, to promote the knowledge of singing especially among young people and to prepare the future singers of Corale S. Pietro al Monte. It took part in musical and didactic events (Umbria, Brianza, Rivoli) achieving a great number of appreciations. Every year, a festival called Rassegna of Children’ choirs, is held in the main Church of Civate. Each choir performs and illustrates different aspects of music. The Choir’s repertoire includes both Italian and foreign popular songs, swing, spirituals, gospels and ethnic pieces.
Since 20007 it is conducted by Ramona Acquistapace.
